Avoid packing one-piece suits
Focus on packing interchangeable center pieces that you can mix and match. Choose neutral tones with an accent color. Items that only work with a specific outfit don’t belong when traveling with carry-on luggage only. Don’t pack for a “fantasy” version of your trip, like fancy dinners and workouts, unless you know you’ll be doing those things. Instead, limit yourself to what you’ll really need and leave everything else at home.
Research the laundry facilities where you are going
Many accommodations have laundry facilities for guest use, in which case you can pack minimal essentials such as underwear, shirts and socks. This will save you space in your carry-on luggage.
Dress in layers on the plane
Wear your bulkiest shoes and clothing on the plane. Think thick sweaters and bulky jackets or coats. Pair outfits with hats, scarves, and your largest purse or bag. Save space by thinking of air travel as a way to dress more and pack less.
