About The Pearl
La Perla is a historic coastal neighborhood just outside the city walls of Old San Juan, established in the 18th century around an old slaughterhouse. Once overlooked, it has been revitalized with colorful murals, street art, and local bars like rooftop bar La 39 and El Callejón de la Perla. The neighborhood features waterfront hangouts, a community skate park that doubles as a pool, and street vendors serving fresh seafood, all against a spectacular backdrop of the Atlantic coast.
